Stephen Colbert stepped onto the Late Show stage Tuesday night displaying a sense of disbelief and gratitude for his new place in the late-night landscape. The former Colbert Report host was beaming as the crowd chanted his name in unison, allowing the longtime host break from his hard-headed-character of old and entertain us by simply being himself.

If it seemed like Stephen Colbert's interviews with George Clooney and Jeb Bush were edited down for time, that's because they were: the debut episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was taped over two hours, but had to be truncated for broadcast. Which left a lot of good material on the cutting-room floor, including this segment of Bush discussing gun control laws.
